Umesh Gala is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) with merit ranking in all his 3 CA exams and stood 9th All India rank in Final CA exams. He has almost 40 years of consulting experience in direct tax, transaction structuring, tax advisory & litigation services and regulatory matters.

He has significant experience in advising several large domestic and MNCs on complex direct tax matters, advisory services covering cross border and domestic M&A, demergers, spin offs, conversion to corporate entities, structuring of complex transactions, tax holiday undertakings, international tax, etc.

Umesh has considerable domain expertise in advising on tax matters for the pharma industry having handled domestic and international tax matters for some of the largest Indian pharma corporates.

Umesh currently also spearheads the Firms’ Knowledge and Solutions team with focus on research, developing solutions and ideas around intricate tax aspects.

Umesh is a regular speaker at various professional and industry forums and has contributed several articles/papers in professional journals/newspapers, etc.

Prior to joining Dhruva Advisors, Umesh had set up U. K. Gala & Associates, a specialized boutique tax firm.
