Ranjeet Mahtani is an advocate and a chartered accountant, and is based in Mumbai. He was a partner at Economic Laws Practice (ELP) and prior to that he was with a member firm of Deloitte Haskins & Sells. He advises on all direct and indirect taxation issues and primarily focuses on all nature of indirect taxes including, GST, customs duty, and the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) of India as also erstwhile indirect taxes of central excise duty, sales tax/ VAT, service tax and entertainment taxes. More recently, he has led diverse GST assignments involving Government advocacy (representation), impact analysis and transition support for clients in variety of sectors.
Ranjeet has been an intrinsic part of numerous tax litigation and dispute matters, across all adjudicatory and appellate fora and has represented clients before various tax tribunals and Indian courts including writ petition proceedings.
He has a sector focus that includes but is not limited to the entertainment industry, banking and insurance, logistics, manufacturing, oil & gas, shipping, telecom sectors amongst others.
Ranjeet routinely authors articles and columns in various publications and taxation forums and is regularly called upon to speak at technical conferences and seminars on taxation.
