Punit Shah is a Partner in Dhruva Advisors based in the Mumbai office.

Punit is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India with over 35 years experience in domestic and international tax and regulatory. He specialises in the banking, financial services and private equity sector and is widely recognized as a leader in this field.

He has been recognised in ITR’s World Tax Guide as a “Highly Regarded” tax practioners.

Prior to joining Dhruva Advisors, Punit was the co-head of KPMG’s tax practice and headed the firm in West India. He was also a member of KPMG’s Global Steering Committees on private equity and real estate funds. He has also earlier held senior leadership positions in PwC and RSM & Co.

He has extensive experience in advising domestic organizations and MNCs on the international and transactions tax matters. In particular, he advises Banks, Insurance Companies and Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) and is widely regarded for his expertise in the fund space and extensively advises Private Equity Funds, Mutual Funds, Foreign Portfolio Investors, Infrastructure funds, Real Estate Funds, etc. on tax and regulatory aspects, including fund structuring, cash repatriation, investments and exits.

Punit is also extensively involved in tax policy issues, and routinely represents clients and industry bodies in making representations and holding discussions with the Government.
